BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, a man received inappropriate video and several sexually explicit messages through Facebook from a person he didn’t even know.
Deputies say on Thursday, the victim contacted Berkeley County Sheriff’s investigators to complain about several incongruous messages that were being sent to him by an unknown male.
Officers say the victim told the person to stop with the unwanted messages but the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Jordan David Winfield of Hillbilly Lane in Bonneau, persisted, even threatening to contact the victim’s daughter with explicit messages.
Deputies say that while the victim was speaking with Berkeley County deputies, the suspect sent a video of himself masturbating. The suspect has distinguishing tattoos on his hand which aided in the identification, deputies stated.
Detectives began to investigate and quickly identified Winfield. They say Winfield admitted that the video was sent by him and that he knew that the victim did not want contact with him but he persisted.
Winfield was arrested and charged with unlawful communications and transported to the Hill Finklea Detention Center to await warrant service and a bond hearing.
“Parents of children who have Facebook accounts are reminded to make sure that the appropriate privacy settings are in place for their accounts to prevent unwanted messages such as these arriving in their in-box,” warned BCSO via its official Facebook account.
