BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–SC 4-H is launching a new project for youth interested in learning more about a very important pollinator.

The 2017 Honey Bee Project is an independent study project that engages youth ages 5-18 in the active role of beekeeping, learning basics of entomology and gaining an appreciation for the role of pollinators in our world.

Youth will be expected to set goals, learn and document new skills, educate others, keep records and become good environmental stewards. Youth do not have to own bees to participate but will need to work with someone who is knowledgeable about managing bees. ( Interested adults are needed to assist, mentor, provide access to hives, etc. in order for youth to “bee” successful.)
