GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–A Berkeley County school bus driver was arrested in Newberry County on Sunday evening and charged with DUI, according to Sgt. Bob Beres with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
On February 19th shortly after 7:00 p.m. SCHP troopers stated that they met a school bus on SC 34 in Newberry County that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane and without headlights.
A traffic stop was performed as the bus got on the eastbound entrance ramp to I-26.
The driver, Brent Patrick Carter, from Goose Creek was arrested for DUI, Beres stated. His blood alcohol content reportedly registered a .18.
Beres stated that there were 15 students on the bus and 3 adults.
The school bus was a green and white full sized activity bus from Goose Creek High School and Berkeley County.
Authorities stated that students were turned over to Berkeley County school officials and DSS was notified.
