MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—A Charleston man already behind bars for armed robbery in Orangeburg County is facing new armed robbery charges following an armed robbery that occurred last month at the Gamestop located at 505 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.
According to Police Chief Rick Ollic, on January 24th at approximately 2:00 p.m., a black male armed with a handgun entered the business and robbed employees of nearly $1,900 in cash and stole two PS 4 game consoles. The suspect then fled on foot.
Moncks Corner Police Department investigators followed up on leads and Ollic says they were able to connect Robert Lee Coaxum of 6883 Dunwell Road, Wadmalaw Island in Charleston to the robbery.
Coaxum is currently being held at the Orangeburg County Detention Center on armed robbery charges resulting from an armed robbery in Orangeburg of another Gamestop location.
He has now been charged with armed robbery by the Moncks Corner Police Department and faced a bond court judge in Berkeley County Monday night.
Coaxum already has a lengthy record with charges including domestic violence, reckless driving, pointing a firearm, possession of marijuana, failure to stop for blue lights, malicious injury to personal property, etc.
Ollic stated that he would like to thank Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell and his agency for assisting the Moncks Corner Police Department in the investigation.
