HANAHAN, S.C.–According to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office, SLED is now investigating the death of a Hanahan woman after her body was found in her 2015 white Subaru Imprezza in North Charleston Monday.
Kelly Kenney, 23, of Hanahan had been missing for more than a week when her body was discovered by police.
Authorities say Kenney was last seen on Feb. 28 at the Recovery Room Tavern on King Street. Her cell phone was reportedly last pinged off of Highway 17 near Shem Creek.
According to Hanahan Police Major Michael Fowler, Kenney’s car was found abandoned at an apartment complex on Stall Road on Friday.
Fowler said the apartment complex manager saw the news and recognized the tag numbers. He then notified police. Fowler stated that police then got a warrant to search the car and found Kenney dead in the back seat.
Her cause and manner of death is still pending. An autopsy has been scheduled.
