BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–In terms of growth, Berkeley County shows no signs of slowing down.
Over the last year, Berkeley County has become the 17th fastest growing county in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Since the 2010 census, more than 33,000 people have moved to the area, a 18.57% increase.
In 2016, more than 210,000 people called Berkeley County home. That number is only expected to rise as more businesses and subdivisions flock to the area.
Compared to other lowcountry counties, Berkeley County leads the way in population growth over a six-year period. Below, you can see how other neighboring counties compared:
- Charleston County: Population growth increased by 13.2%
- Dorchester County: Population growth increased by 12.6%
- Colleton County: Population growth decreased by 2.5%
