Berkeley County Coroner Responds To 2 Fatalities In Less Than 24 Hours

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On July 16, at 9:40 p.m., 38-year-oldย  Joseph Wamer of St. George was traveling north on Highway 17-A near 2423 N Main Street in Summerville when he struck a power pole.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury stated that he came back on the roadway and stopped in the median. He then exited his vehicle and was struck by a vehicle traveling south.

EMS transported him to a local hospital where he died at 10:31 p.m.ย  The accident is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and The Goose Creek Police Dept.ย  His death has been ruled accidental.

The next day at 4:50 p.m., 80-year-oldar old Katherine G. Bright of Moncks Corner was involved in a traffic accident at Epson Oak Rd. and Rembert C. Dennis Blvd.

Salisbury stated that she was transported to a local hospital where she died at 6:56 p.m. The accident is under investigation by The Berkeley County Coronerโ€™s Office and Moncks Corner Police Dept.ย  Her death has been ruled accidental.

These are traffic death numbers 21 and 22 for Berkeley County this year, Salisbury added.
