GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek police traffic investigators are requesting anyone with information that might assist in the investigation of the July 17th traffic fatality (US 17-A @ 1st Ave.) to contact them.
At about 9:35 p.m. a vehicle traveling north on US 17-A left the roadway and struck a telephone pole just outside the city limits then came to rest in the median of US 17-A near 1st Ave (in city limits).
The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Wamer, got out and ended up laying in the southbound lane of travel, authorities stated.
During this time, Wamer was run over by at least one passing vehicle. EMS transported him to a local hospital where he died at 10:31 p.m.
GCPD traffic investigators identified and interviewed the driver of one of the passing vehicles but was advised that others did not stop.
