BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A tractor-trailer crashed into an Interstate 26 overpass early Friday morning near Ridgeville, killing the driver.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver as 40-year-old Johnathan Jamison of Columbia. Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury has ruled Jamison’s death as accidental.
The deadly wreck shut down the road near mile marker 191 in the Ridgeville/Jedburg area.
While the cause of the crash remains under investigation; however, troopers say the wreck occurred when the semi ran off the right side of the interstate and struck the overpass.
No one else was injured in the accident.
It’s not clear if the overpass sustained any major damage.
