BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A motorcyclist has died following an early morning accident on Cypress Gardens Road.
On Thursday at 2:00 a.m., the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was notified of a traffic death in that area.
When Coroner Bill Salisbury arrived on scene, he found that a motorcycle had run off the right side of the roadway and into the woods.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 35-year-old Jamie Benjamin Pitts of Summerville. Hewas pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved, and he was not wearing a helmet.
His death has been ruled accidental and is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner and the Moncks Corner Police Dept.
This was the 24th traffic death in Berkeley County this year.
