Thermo King Locates New Manufacturing Operations in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Thermo King, a provider of transportation refrigeration solutions, is locating its new manufacturing operations in Berkeley County.

“We are excited to expand our business in the dynamic Charleston market. The new Thermo King of Charleston facility will allow our company to support our clients, improve delivery and optimize custom options in the ever-changing transport temperature control and automotive industries,” stated Ritchie McQueeney, Thermo King Charleston President. “We look forward to growing with our customers and believe the assistance from the State of South Carolina and Berkeley County help provide a competitive business environment for us to thrive.”

In order to serve the rapidly-growing automotive sector in South Carolina, the company is investing $2.6 million and creating 25 new jobs.

“Thermo King has a strong and important presence in South Carolina. The decision to expand in the state, and open operations in Berkeley County, is a promising move,” stated Bill Peagler, Berkeley County Supervisor. “Berkeley County leaders look forward to the job opportunities ahead for the industry and the continued relationship Thermo King will have with Berkeley County.”

With existing locations in Columbia, Florence and Myrtle Beach, Thermo King is a manufacturer of transport temperature-control systems for the automotive and trucking industries. The company offers a complete line of heavy-duty compressors, driers, condensers and more, along with full-service repair capabilities.
