BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A Georgetown man is behind bars following a fatal crash in Berkeley County over the weekend.
According to Lance Corporal Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the deadly accident occurred on French Santee Road near Palmers Bridge Road shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Troopers say they arrested Alviuos Dean Adams, 51, of Georgetown and charged him with Felony Driving Under the Influence Resulting in Death.
The passenger in Adams’ 2007 Ford Mustang died on scene from injuries he received in the crash, Southern stated.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury has identified the passenger as 63-year-old Terry Woods of Georgetown. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Adams was transported to MUSC immediately after the collision by EMS and upon his release on Monday was taken into custody by troopers.
He has since been booked into Berkeley County’s Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
