BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a recent possible robbery.
Neville Morgan, 78, of Sheep Island Rd. in Summerville was found in his home by family members. He was badly injured.
On the afternoon of Thursday, April 12th at 2:05 p.m. deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900-block of Sheep Island Road in reference to an assault on Morgan.
Upon arrival, deputies found the elderly male subject who had been severely physically assaulted at the residence. Medics responded and he was transported to Trident Hospital in North Charleston.
He died later that same day.
An autopsy conducted on 4/15/18 found that he died from blunt force trauma and his death has been ruled as a homicide, Salisbury stated.
The death is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
The case is being investigated as a possible robbery.
