BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who drowned over the weekend in Lake Moultrie.
On Sunday, May 6, at 1 P.M. 26-year-old Jason Williams, of Loris, S.C. was walking in the water with his cousin when he stepped into an area over his head and went under, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The incident occurred in the Pinopolis community near Moncks Corner.
His body was recovered shortly after by The Berkeley County Sheriff Office and fire dept. personnel.
He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
The death has been ruled accidental by Coroner Bill Salisbury. The investigation was conducted by the Berkeley County Sheriff Office and Coroner’s Office.
