11:30 A.M. UPDATE: The Courthouse has reopened following the discovery of a suspicious package. Family Court will restart at 11:45 a.m. Circuit Court will start back at 1:30 p.m. Any prior cases that were missed this morning will be rescheduled.
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A suspicious package has forced the shutdown of the Berkeley County courthouse until further notice.
According to Berkeley County Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, the suspicious package was discovered Monday morning during a routing security sweep.
“The courthouse will be closed until this situation is resolved,” stated Cochran.
The courthouse is located at 300 California Drive in Moncks Corner.
