BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County voters have chosen a new supervisor to lead one of the state’s fastest growing counties.
Unofficial results show Johnny Cribb has beat current Berkeley County Supervisor, Bill Peagler.
“It hadn’t sunk in yet. This was a long process and a lot of work. Winning this thing isn’t a finish line. It’s a lot of work just to get to the starting line,” Cribb stated Tuesday night.
Cribb received 62.15 percent (9,591 ballots cast ) of the vote compared to Peagler’s 37.85 percent (5,840 ballots cast). That’s with 97 percent of the precincts reporting as of Wednesday morning.
Cribb is presently the administrator for the City of Hanahan.
Peagler, the former mayor of Moncks Corner, was elected county supervisor in the June 2014 primary, beating then-supervisor Dan Davis.

Throughout his campaign, Cribb received major endorsements from community leaders–including Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis.
“Johnny is a consensus builder. He has the ability to bring people together, not tear them apart. Johnny will work with me to make sure your Sheriff’s Office is second to none in fighting crime and drugs in our communities,” stated Lewis.
Other big endorsements for Cribb came from Berkeley County Councilman Josh Whitley, Whitesville Fire Chief Tim Stephenson, Berkeley County Councilman Jack Schurlknight and Hanahan Mayor Minnie Newman.
“I’m committed to working with Sheriff Lewis and the BCSD, local law enforcement, County Council, and the residents and businesses of Berkeley County to help make our county the safest in the state!” stated Cribb.
Cribb has been involved in public service for the past twenty-two years including the past nine years serving as city administrator for Hanahan. A Lowcountry native, he has lived in Berkeley County for the past nineteen years with his wife Teri and children, Brooks and Ashlyn.
