BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a pickup truck on Monday.
On July 16th, the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated a traffic death on Highway 35 in the Russellville area of Berkeley County.
Authorities say Mary E. McMillian, 68, was walking in the roadway when she was struck by a pickup truck. She was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The driver stated he did not see her and turned around to see what he had hit. McMillian was killed not far from her home.
This is the 20th traffic-related death in Berkeley County this year, according to Salisbury. Six of them have been auto-pedestrian related.
