BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announces the closure of Cypress Gardens Road (S-8-9) in Berkeley County.
SCDOT crews have identified structural deficiencies in the concrete bridge deck over Canterhill Swamp that has required the closure of the road until repairs can be made. The portion of the road closed will be between Garrott Avenue and US 52.
The detour will utilize Garrott Avenue to Tom Hill Road and is approximately 1.5 miles in length. More information concerning the reopening of the bridge will be made available at a later date.
The Department urges motorists to use caution in the area and to follow detour signage.
