GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–A Goose Creek man is behind bars after troopers say he collided with a Charleston County Deputy’s cruiser on Wednesday night.
At approximately 9:08 p.m., troopers with the SC Highway Patrol investigated a crash that occurred between a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office 2015 Chevy Tahoe K9 vehicle and a 2000 Ford Ranger Pickup truck on Lincolnville Road near Yaupon Street.
The sheriff’s department vehicle was traveling eastbound on Lincolnville Road, according to SCHP Lance Corporal Matt Southern. The Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling westbound on Lincolnville Road.
Southern stated that the driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto Yaupon Street, while under the influence, failing to yield the right of way and was subsequently struck by the sheriff’s department vehicle.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Frank Legree Gourdine, 54, of Goose Creek.
Troopers charged Gourdine with Driving Under the Influence and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. He was also cited for a seatbelt violation.
Once released from Trident Hospital, Gourdine was arrested and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Gourdine is no stranger to the law. In February 2018, he was charged with receiving stolen goods, open container, and driving with a suspended license.
Less than a year ago, he also spent some time behind bars in Berkeley County.
