GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–A Goose Creek man is behind bars after law enforcement observed a drug deal take place in a public place.
Members of Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit were working in the City of Goose Creek when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction take place in the parking lot of a grocery store.
Further investigation resulted in the detectives making contact with one of the subjects involved.
When speaking with the suspect, later identified as Kenneth Lamar Russell of Goose Creek, they located a blue piece of paper containing a crystal substance. That substance later field tested presumptive to be methamphetamine.
A search warrant was that obtained for Russell’s residence. Located at the residence was:
* 1035 grams of a crystal substance that field tested presumptive to be methamphetamine
* 4.1 grams of a substance that field tested presumptive to be heroin
* 8.5 grams of a substance that field tested presumptive to be crack cocaine
* 48.2 grams of a green plant like substance that field tested presumptive to be marijuana
* 7 firearms
* $18,881 in United States Currency
* A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu that was seized pending forfeiture proceedings.
Russell was arrested and transported to the Hill Finklea Detention Center pending warrant service and a bond hearing.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit contains members of the Hanahan, Goose Creek and Moncks Corner police departments as well as deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
