BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County Government announces plans to reopen Cypress Gardens by January 2019.

Cypress Gardens, located at 3030 Cypress Gardens Road in Moncks Corner, was severely damaged in the historic floods of October 2015. Berkeley County immediately closed the park. Since then, funding, timing, and weather have all impacted the project and kept the County from reopening the facilities.

Berkeley County council authorized a contract on Monday, August 27, for the renovation work of the boat dock inside the park. Other repairs and improvements to the park include work on the walkways, bridges, parking lot, ticket booth, visitors’ center, front lawn and restrooms. These projects are the final items that, when complete, will allow the park to reopen.

“Berkeley County leaders are excited to reopen Cypress Gardens and are thrilled with the phenomenal progress that’s been made at this historic site,” said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler. It has always been a priority to reopen the park as soon as possible; however, we are not in control of several factors that have hindered the timeline. We thank everyone for their patience surrounding our efforts and we look forward to making the park an even greater destination than ever before.”
