BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley Animal Center will temporarily stop accepting animals on Monday, September 10 in preparation for Hurricane Florence. The shelter is currently asking for people to come foster the animals.
Workers at the facility encourage people to make plans for their animals now.
The shelter will not be accepting owner surrenders or strays until Hurricane Florence no longer poses a threat to South Carolina.
Berkeley County leaders are working to identify shelters if an evacuation is ordered. When that decision is made, a local shelter will allow animals as long as owners stay with their animal(s).
