BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—Another mega housing development is coming to Berkeley County.

According to Berkeley County property records, Pulte Home Company LLC purchased 53.72 acres for $1,687,102.71 in October 2018. The property sits along Sheep Island Road and Leisure Drive in Summerville.

The same developer also purchased 24.19 acres for $1,231,860.00 in June. This property is located across the street from the first property along the same roads.

The two pieces of land and a third off Leisure Lane yet to be acquired by Pulte will make up a 141-acre subdivision with 357 houses called Bradford Pointe, Charlie Tipton, coastal Carolinas division president of the PulteGroup, told The Post and Courier recently.

“Welcome to Summerville’s newest Centex community, Bradford Pointe. Here, you’ll enjoy a private amenity that will include a swimming pool and children’s play area as well as convenient access to just about everything including great schools for all grade levels, shopping, dining and recreation,” the website for the new development reads.

Pulte Home Company LLC has been building homes throughout the United States since 1950. The company acquired Centex, at the time the nation’s largest homebuilding company, for $3.1 billion in 2009.
