MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper continues to top the national average for residential customer satisfaction, according to the most recent independent survey.
Some 91.8 percent of residential customers are satisfied, up slightly from 2017, with 56.5 percent very satisfied, according to a survey conducted late in 2018 by MarketSearch. The national average for residential customer satisfaction among power companies is 89.1 percent.
The independent survey has been conducted annually since 1992 and asks customers about power quality, customer service, rates and value, conservation programs, and general image. Customers rated the utility highest in keeping power outages to a minimum, quality of electric power, restoring power as quickly as possible after outages, and responding quickly to customer questions and problems.
“We work very hard at providing reliable power and excellent customer service,” said Mike Poston, vice president of retail operations. “Our field personnel and customer service representatives, as well as the rest of our team, take pride in responding quickly and efficiently to meet our customers’ needs.”
Santee Cooper saw increases in customer satisfaction with helping customers use energy efficiently (up 2.3 percent) and playing a leadership role in conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy programs (up 3.9 percent). Santee Cooper is South Carolina’s largest power provider, largest Green Power generator and the ultimate source of electricity for 2 million people across the state.
