GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–It looks like the City of Goose Creek just got a little bit bigger. North Charleston has now become “South Goose Creek.”
Okay, well, maybe not. But it was a nice prank pulled off by the City of Goose Creek and City of North Charleston on this April Fool’s Day.
For the last few days, Goose Creek leaders have been teasing residents with a video on Facebook that included a “top secret” box that we now know contained a massive banner reading “South Goose Creek.”
As part of the prank, Goose Creek administrator Jake Broom and Assistant City Administrator Daniel Moore draped the banner over North Charleston City Hall by pretending to be Goose Creek Heating and Air workers
Of course, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey wasn’t having any of it.
“These type of antics will not be tolerated by the City of North Charleston and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” the mayor told fake news reporter, Jarve
Of course, the prank was all in good fun, and generated a lot of responses from folks online.
“Look out Summerville. You’re about to become West Goose Creek,” stated one person.
“Best use of tax dollars ever. Can we do more of this? Maybe take over Mt Pleasant next?” stated another person.
