Police: Driver Flips Vehicle, Attempts to Flee but Doesn’t Get Far

VIA GOOSE CREEK POLICE DEPARTMENT

GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–The driver of a vehicle who refused to stop for police during a traffic stop is behind bars and facing a slew of charges, according to the Goose Creek Police Department.

On Friday afternoon, a Goose Creek police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on one vehicle when another vehicle, a Dodge Ram (a rental), ran a stop sign almost striking the officer.

The officer then redirected his attention to the Dodge Ram and attempted to stop that driver for reckless driving. The driver of that vehicle failed to stop and ultimately wrecked the truck by flipping it on its side on Pandora Drive.

Police say the driver climbed out of the truck that was still on its side and despite being given verbal commands at gunpoint, he fled on foot. Additional officers were able to set up a perimeter around the area and the subject was apprehended shortly after.

Police say a large amount of a substance, presumed to be cocaine, was located in the woods by K9 where the subject ran. He also had $2192.00 on his person. He was arrested for trafficking cocaine, reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest and littering.

Additional evidence led Goose Creek police to contact Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit which is comprised of task force officers from multiple municipalities ( to include Goose Creek) and the Sheriff’s Office.

They were able to obtain a search warrant on the subject’s residence which yielded approximately 1.5 pounds of a substance presumed to be cocaine ( street value of approximately $40,000) 4 guns, one of which was stolen, and $11,187.00 in cash. A female at the residence was also taken into custody.
