MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—The Moncks Corner Police Dept. announced Wednesday that there was no “criminal element” to attribute to the cause of the recent fire at the Santee Run Apartment complex.
“However, the exact cause is still under investigation,” stated Captain Mark Fields with MCPD.
On May 29th, at approximately 12:31 a.m., the Moncks Corner Fire Dept. and Moncks Corner Police Department responded to a structure fire.
Upon arrival, they observed a portion of the Santee Run Apartment complex engulfed in flames.
The fire was eventually extinguished with one person suffering minor injury.
More than 30 people living at the apartment complex were left homeless.
The complex was eventually secured and MCPD investigators along with the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arson investigators were summoned to assist in the fire investigation.
