BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County leaders are making preps for Hurricane Dorian which includes making arrangements to distribute sandbags to residents who wish to protect their home from potential rainwater.
As of Sunday, the county has delivered sandbags to the following locations:
Berkeley County has delivered sand to the following locations:
- St Stephen Rural FD (150 prefilled bags)
- Town of Moncks Corner 20 tons/500 bags
- Lake Moultrie FD 20 tons/500 bags
- City of Goose Creek 20 tons/500 bags
- Whitesville (Sunview Station) 20 tons/500 bags
- Hanahan 60 tons/1,500 bags
- Pineridge (Myers Road) 20 tons/500 bags
County officials say sandbags are currently en route to the following locations:
- Cross (Shortcut Road) 20 tons/500 bags
- Goose Creek Rural 20 tons/500 bags
- Cross FD (Old Hwy 6) 10 tons/250 bags
- Cross FD (Hwy 6) 10 tons/250 bags
Berkeley County Council issued a State of Emergency declaration at the County Committee and Council meeting Sunday, September 1 at 2 p.m.
The declaration was made so aid can be provided to supplement local resources in preventing and/or alleviating damages, loss, hardship or suffering in connection with Hurricane Dorian.
