As of Monday morning, employees with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol began preparing to reverse lanes on I-26.
Gov. Henry McMaster has ordered a mandatory evacuation for coastal counties like Berkeley County.
Evacuations will begin today (Sept. 2) at noon. SCDOT officials are urging South Carolina residents to make safety plans as Hurricane Dorian approaches the coast.
The SCDOT has deployed additional motorist assistance crews (SHEP) to the area of I-95, officials stated.
