BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – With the threat of Hurricane Dorian looming out in the Atlantic, are you wondering if your Amazon package will still be delivered on time?
According to a spokesperson with the giant online retailer, while they haven’t closed their facilities in The Palmetto State, customers should anticipate a possible delay in delivery.
“As we monitor the potential impact from Hurricane Dorian, we are proactively closing operations centers temporarily, for the safety of our employees and drivers. However, our facilities in South Carolina are still currently open,” stated Rachael Lighty, an Amazon spokesperson.
Some readers have told The Berkeley Observer that their scheduled package deliveries have been pushed back to Monday, September 9th.
Here is the full statement from Amazon:
While we don’t know yet what the impact of the storm will be for our local teams, the safety of our employees and drivers is always our top priority. We have begun proactively closing operations facilities temporarily in the potential impacted areas. We will pay Amazon employees 100 percent of regular time if their facility temporarily closes and are prepared to provide support for them and their families so they can recover from this storm.
Customers living in areas affected by the hurricane may see a delayed delivery promise date on items when they go to checkout. In limited circumstances, customers outside the impacted area may also see a slower delivery promise if the product they are ordering is shipping from an area within the projected path of the hurricane. Right now, our Disaster Relief by Amazon team is closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian and is working to prepare and provide support alongside our nonprofit partners to communities potentially impacted.
