BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Starting a career is an exciting milestone for people beginning a new chapter in their lives. However, it can also come with its fair share of challenges, like earning an entry-level salary while facing things like student loan debt and living expenses.
Financial technology company SmartAsset has weighed each of these factors to find the best places to start a career in each state.
The new study measures the income and unemployment rates for people 20-24 years-old in each county, as well as income growth, costs of attending college and the relative purchasing power in each county.
According to the study, Berkeley County came in second place as one of the best counties in the state to start a career. Greenville County took the No. 1 spot while Dorchester County rounded out the top ten.
