PINEVILLE, S.C. – One man is behind bars in the connection with the Pineville triple murders that occurred on Jan. 20. Berkeley County deputies arrested Jay Quan Washington, 20, of Pineville on Friday for the shooting deaths of three young men.
According to deputies, investigators were able to utilize forensic evidence to determine Washington was responsible for fatally shooting 23-year-old Martice Green, 22-year-old Desmond Williams and 19-year-old Malik Gibbs. All three men were from St. Stephen.
The shootings happened near Crawl Hill Drive in Pineville. All three victims were found dead inside a car, deputies said. Investigators believe the motive for the shooting was robbery, and the three men were set up.
“This case was solved with the hard work and dedication of Berkeley County sheriff detectives, FBI and SLED agents,” Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “Detectives worked around the clock to bring this cold-blooded killer to justice.”
Washington has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Berkeley County deputies are still looking for a second suspect. They are asking the public’s help in locating Donelle Lamar McKelvey, 28, of Moncks Corner. McKelvey is wanted for three counts of accessory before the fact of murder.
Anyone with additional information on this case or know McKelvey’s whereabouts, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 719-4412 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111. You can remain anonymous.
