GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Goose Creek Police Department’s second annual Hot Pursuit 5K is fast approaching, and officers are still looking for participants. The event is scheduled to take place June 13.
According to the police department, the upcoming race will likely be one of the first in the area this year since many other events – including the 2020 Cooper River Bridge Run – canceled due to concerns over the coronavirus.
“Since the event is outside, we will maintain some social distancing aspects when it comes to visiting our vendors etc, but the RACE WILL GO ON!,” the police department posted on its official Facebook page.
All proceeds from the Goose Creek Police Department’s Hot Pursuit 5K will benefit its “Shop With A Badge” program in December. The program allows underprivileged children from the Lowcountry area to shop with an officer for Christmas.
“You do not have to run, walking is also allowed. We also have a FREE half mile fun run for kids,” the police department posted on its official Facebook page. “All children will receive a small item at the finish. This year all 5k finishers will receive a medal and prizes will be awarded per age group and gender.”
Whether you run or walk, participants will receive a nicely-designed race t-shirt but that’s not all.
“Finisher medals are new this year, and we have awesome awards,” the department said.
