HANAHAN, S.C – As violent protests erupt all over the country in response to the death of 46-year-old George Floyd, those who wear the badge and blue are working overtime to maintain the peace – even as anti-police sentiment rises.
Through it all, support for the brave men and women and blue still remains strong – especially in Berkeley County. On Saturday, Pastor Willette and members of the River of Love Church in Yeamans Hall Plaza prayed with Hanahan police officers for their safety.
“With all the turmoil going on because of the recent incident in Minneapolis, asking our officers to join you in prayer meant more than any words can describe. We thank you,” the Hanahan Police Department said in response to the church’s prayer.
Church members also held up signs at city hall that read “We are praying for you” and “Thanks for all you do.”
The response from the community to the recent prayer was overwhelmingly positive.
“That’s a beautiful thing to see right there. Grateful for this department!” one person posted on Facebook.
“Amazing. Thank you to our awesome police and to our citizens who appreciate them,” another person said.
