GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. – A Moncks Corner ban is behind bars following a shooting that left two people dead.
Charles Nicholas Wall, 45, of Andrews and Laura Ashley Anderson, 21, of Georgetown died from gunshot wounds at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office. Wall was Anderson’s stepfather, Coroner Kenny Johnson said.
Ty Sheem Ha Sheem Walters III, 23, of Moncks Corner is charged in connection with the double murder that occurred late Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 521 west of Georgetown.
Just after 5 p.m., Georgetown County deputies said they responded to a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Indian Hut Road and Highmarket Street.
Upon their arrival, deputies said they determined that multiple people had been shot during an altercation that resulted from a traffic accident, and that the shooter had fled the scene on foot.
Investigators combed the scene for evidence and questioned multiple witnesses, and deputies deployed tracking bloodhound K9s in the woods nearby.
Eventually, deputies said they located Walters and took him into custody. He was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center.
Investigators said they are seeking charges of murder (two counts) and attempted murder (one count) in connection with the shooting.
According to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is ongoing.
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Highmarket Street and Indian Hut Road Monday around 5 p.m. and witnessed the incident to call Senior Investigator Hank Carrison at 843-436-6058.
