Moncks Corner Runoff For Town Council Happening Nov. 24

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Town of Moncks Corner will hold a special election runoff on Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Moncks Corner town hall, which is at 118 Carolina Ave., for the open seat on town council.

Tuesday’s special election is for the runoff between candidates Latorie Lloyd Walker and Mike Doty.

Walker came in first place, with 275 votes (38.41 percent), during the Nov. 10 special election. However, for a candidate to be declared the winner, he or she must receive the majority of the votes cast.

According to the unofficial election results, 716 voters cast their ballots during the special election – 174 people (24.30 percent) voted for Doty.

“I am running for Moncks Corner town council because my grandparents and family members worked extremely hard to contribute to our town. My goal is to stand on the strong foundations that they have built over the years to lead with dignity integrity and honor as we advocate for the citizens and businesses within out town,” Walker said on her official Facebook page.

“Mike believes in being a good steward of the resources entrusted to him. As a child in a military family, money was never in abundance. Now being in ministry as an adult, the same applies,” read a statement on Doty’s official Facebook page. Mike has to be continually looking for responsible ways to make every dollar stretch…Yet another quality that makes Mike the RIGHT candidate for YOUR town council. You can trust him to steward your resources well.”
