BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – When you shop small this holiday season, you’re not just supporting Berkeley County businesses you love — you’re helping them also thrive, which is more important than ever as the coronavirus pandemic puts a financial strain on many mom and pop shops.
In fact, 62 percent of U.S. small businesses reported that they need to see consumer spending return to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2020 in order to stay in business.
The origin of Small Business Saturday
Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities.
In the midst of the recession in 2010 — American Express created Small Business Saturday® to encourage people to shop small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses.
Small Business Saturday continues to be an annual holiday shopping tradition. This year, Small Business Saturday® will take place Saturday, Nov. 28.
