GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Goose Creek Police Department announced Thursday the start of its very first “Operation Christmas Joy.”
With proceeds left over from the annual Hot Pursuit 5k run, officials with the departments say they have been fortunate enough to help five families who have been struggling during this holiday season.
The families were recommended to the Goose Creek Police Department by multiple social advocacy groups.
As part of “Operation Christmas Joy,” the Goose Creek Police Department will be assisting the families with gifts, utilities and other financial needs.
A full traditional style holiday dinner will also be prepared by the city’s chef and served to the families by members of the Goose Creek Police Department on Dec. 22, 2020 at 4 p.m. at the Crowfield Country Club.
Gifts will be given out to the families following their dinner.
The Goose Creek Police Department said it sees this as another opportunity to invest in the community in which it is so very proud to serve.
