HUGER, S.C. – Help keep Berkeley County’s national forest trash free!
Palmetto Pride, Keep Berkeley Beautiful and the U.S. Forestry Service are currently looking for volunteers to participate in its annual Francis Marion National Forest Cleanup.
The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the U.S. Forest Service Office, which is at 2967 Steed Creek Rd. in Huger.
Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, all cleanup locations will be pre-selected for volunteers after signup. Lunch will not be served following cleanup as a result of the pandemic, organizers said.
According to Palmetto Pride, during last year’s Francis Marion National Forest Cleanup, volunteers picked up 21,700 pounds of trash, including 2.4 tons of tires.
