Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement arrested Smalls, a former MCPD school resource officer, on Monday, June 14. Ollic’s suspension came eight days later.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesman Tommy Crosby told multiple news outlets that his agency is not investigating Ollic in connection with the Smalls case.

Moncks Corner town officials are not commenting on Ollic’s suspension.

Ollic has served as the town’s police chief since 2016. Prior to that, he ran unsuccessfully as Berkeley County sheriff, losing to the current sheriff, Duane Lewis. He spent more than 25 years working at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office before making the switch to the Moncks Corner Police Department.
