BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – As COVID-19 cases drop throughout South Carolina, the Berkeley County School District is loosening some of its health and safety protocols.

Following new guidance from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the school district suspended its test to stay and quarantine protocol Tuesday.

It has also stopped contact tracing, testing and masking of close contacts without symptoms.

In addition, the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is no longer requiring the use of masks by students and staff on state-owned and operated school buses.

Isolation requirements for those who test positive for COVID-19 will remain unchanged, according to the school district.

Individuals with symptoms and those who have tested positive should also continue to report this information to the school nurse.
