GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – A school resource officer is out of a job following allegations of a relationship with a student at Stratford High School.
“On March 18, the Goose Creek Police Department was made aware by the Berkeley County School District of an alleged situation involving SRO Stayton and a student at Stratford High School,” the police department said in a news release.
The department said Chief LJ Roscoe placed Officer Stayton on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
A thorough internal affairs investigation was ultimately conducted, and Officer Stayton was terminated based on policy violations on March 28, police said.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is continuing to investigate.
Police did not offer additional insight into the allegations against the officer.
