BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – One person has died and several others injured following a three-vehicle collision on U.S. Hwy. 176 near Thirty Five Mile Road in Ridgeville.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
SCHP Lance Cpl. Nick Pye said the driver of a 2007 Mercedez sedan and a 2014 Kia sedan were traveling west on U.S. Hwy. 176 as a driver of 2006 Chevy pickup traveled east on the road.
At some point, the three vehicles collided, Pye said. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.
The driver of the Mercedez sedan, the Chevy pickup and a passenger in the Kia sedan were transported to nearby hospitals. Their injuries are unknown.
Pye said the driver of the Kia sedan was killed in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
