GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Goose Creek police are hoping to make city roads safer by increasing traffic safety operations.
On May 24, police conducted an operation that resulted in 335 traffic stops and 469 citations.
In addition to citations, there were several violators that were driving on already suspended licenses, four people wanted on outstanding warrants, and four violators that were arrested for narcotics, according to the department.
On June 3, the police department conducted another traffic safety operation that resulted in 211 traffic stops and 236 citations.
In addition to the citations, 13 people were arrested for narcotics, two for unlawful carry, one for possession of a stolen firearm, three for open container, six for driving on a suspended license, one habitual violator and one for an outstanding warrant.
“With the number of avoidable accidents that continue to happen within our city, we will continue to perform traffic safety operations in an attempt to educate drivers and lessen our accident rate. We ask that everyone abide by the traffic laws in order to help keep everyone safe!” the police department posted to social media.
