BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – When a former Berkeley County K9 featured on A&E’s “Live PD” needed financial help to pay for his medical care, the community didn’t think twice about reaching into their pockets.
Several days ago, K9 Fox’s former handler, Tyler Clark, created a GoFundMe page seeking donations to help pay for his partner’s medical treatments. In no time, Clark and Fox surpassed their goal, raising nearly $15,000 from 117 donors.
“Prayers for a successful surgery and speedy recovery! We miss seeing you on ‘Live PD’ – especially our four-legged kid who couldn’t wait to see his buddy Fox on Friday nights,” one donor posted on the fundraising page.
Clark said he was grateful for the love and support Fox received. He also thanked those who donated.
“There is a long recovery ahead for this hero but we will continue to keep everyone updated on his journey,” Clark posted to the page Thursday.
According to Clark, FOX suffers from serious spinal and disk issues stemming from his work over the years in law enforcement. As a result, he was medically retired from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office recently.
“Fox’s current medical condition is diminishing his quality of life. He no longer has the ability to jump in the patrol car for work, and common ‘pet activities’ are painful and exhausting for our retired hero,” Clark said.
However, thanks to the kind generosity from the community, Fox will soon be able to receive the necessary surgery to repair his injuries. Then hopefully, he can enjoy his final years in retirement with minimal pain.
