MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – It’s lights, camera, action once again for downtown Moncks Corner. Hollywood has returned to the small town for the filming of “Suncoast,” which stars Woody Harrelson and Laura Linney.
Crew members were spotted in and around the town’s recreation complex Wednesday. Filming closed a portion of Peagler Way between Main Street and Leisure Time Way to traffic for much of the day.
A week earlier cast and crew also filmed around East Main Street and Carolina Avenue, as well as in Delta Pharmacy, town officials said.

Directed by Laura Chinn, the movie is inspired by Chinn’s life experience from the early 2000’s and follows a teenager living with her strong-willed mother (Linney), who must take her brother to live at a specialized facility. There, she strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist (Harrelson) amid protests surrounding controversial medical cases, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is not the first time that Moncks Corner has caught the attention of Hollywood. HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones” starring John Goodman and Danny McBride has filmed in multiple locations around town recently.
