BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a one-day traffic safety enforcement operation to target aggressive drivers in the Clements Ferry, SC-41 and Cainhoy areas.
According to the sheriff’s office, the main goal of the traffic safety enforcement was to educate drivers on vehicle operation safety through traffic enforcement efforts.
“We have received numerous complaints about increased speeds and aggressive drivers along Clements Ferry Road.” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “We want to make it clear to motorists that we are always around, and we will continue to conduct proactive patrols to target dangerous drivers. Every motorist deserves to arrive to their destination – unharmed.”
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit partnered with the Charleston Police Department.
The operation yielded the following results (from BCSO only):
Citations:
- Speeding – 18
- Vehicle License Violations – 4
- No Driver’s License – 1
- Seatbelt Violations – 1
- Disregarding a Stop Sign – 1
- No Insurance – 1
Warnings:
- Speeding – 29
- No Driver’s License in Possession – 1
- Improper Lane Change – 1
BCSO said it hopes that by being proactive on these roadways we can possibly prevent collisions and save lives.
“Our main ambition we aim for is having zero fatalities in Berkeley County,” the sheriff’s office posted to Facebook.
