Detective Posing As 14-Year-Old Girl Online Leads To Moncks Corner Man’s Arrest

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Detectives from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Moncks Corner man Thursday on charges of sexually exploiting and soliciting a minor.

The arrest was part of a Charleston County-based undercover operation by CCSO members of
the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives posing as a 14-year-old girl made contact with the man online and were asked for
nude photos. The man also traveled to meet with the online persona.

Jeremy John Dye, 42, has been arrested on two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

He was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center, where he was expected to have a bond hearing
Friday.
