BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Firefighters rescued a pet from a house fire in the Cane Bay community Thursday morning in Berkeley County, according to Central Berkeley Fire & EMS.
According to first responders, around 11:15 a.m., Central Berkeley Fire & EMS and Pine Ridge Fire Rescue were notified of a reported residential fire with possible entrapment in the 300 block of Sanctuary Park Drive.
Crews said they arrived on scene within four minutes and found heavy fire and smoke on the first floor.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire while searching the home for survivors.
“We are pleased to report that the home was not occupied at the time of the incident,” Central Berkeley Fire & EMS announced via social media. “One pet was successfully rescued from the home.”
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, firefighters said.
