GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – As part of its accreditation to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the Goose Creek Police Department is asking the public to fill out a short, 10-question citizen survey online.
“We request that if you are a citizen of the City of Goose Creek, that you take a few minutes to complete the survey. Thank you in advance,” GCPD posted to Facebook.
Residents can complete the online survey at this link. Questions asked on the multiple-choice survey include:
- Do you live within the City of Goose Creek city limits?
- How safe do you feel in the city?
- Have you had any interaction with the police department?
- If you answered yes, was your interaction positive (even if the outcome was a citation)?
- Do you know at least one police officer that patrols your area by name?
- Other than law enforcement actions, do you think the Goose Creek Police Department is adequately active within the community (community-oriented policing)?
- In your opinion do members of the police department care about the city and the citizens?
- When there are issues of concern (adverse weather, malfunctioning railroad crossings, wanted suspects, etc) how well do you think the police department communicates these issues?
- Do you think that the police department functions well with other departments within the city? (Recreation, Fire, Golf, etc)
- How would you rate the overall performance of the Goose Creek Police Department? (1 =lowest-5=highest)
Last year, the police department received its seventh CALEA certification. They are working on securing their eighth – requesting that residents complete the online survey is part of the process.
CALEA was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of major law enforcement associations.
